| MY BEST IN SHOW, RES BEST IN SHOW & BEST PUPPY IN SHOW |
BRITISH BOXER CLUB
I was delighted when I received a letter from the Secretary of the British Boxer club asking me to judge their Open show on the 25th November 2007. This would be my last Breed club requirement to give me my numbers(I only needed one dog) to progress onto the A2 list and on my way to awarding tickets; an ambition I have held since starting in the show game-way back in the 1970's.
The usual bribery was required to get our daughters to look after the dogs, believe me, they will already be laying plans for the payback!
The day for our departure arrived and we were to fly from Edinburgh to London Heathrow, where we would be collected by a Committee Member. All went according to plan; we were settled in our Hotel by 3.30pm, so a relaxing few hours before an evening meal, at a very nice restaurant called The Apple Cart, then an early night.
Next morning we were picked up and taken to the venue, where Isobell Edison was doing the Special Puppy classes so we had time to relax with a coffee before my stint.
I was delighted with my entry of 120 and would like to thanks the exhibitors for their sporting acceptance of my placings. I was pleased with my final line up. Best in Show was awarded to a Very Smart, Brindle/White bitch Maranseen Rave Revue, my Reserve Best in Show went to the Super, Masculine, Brindle/White Dog Jimbren Dancing Deano and my Best Puppy in Show went to a Very Smart Red/White young man with bags of style Norwilbeck Designed in Time.
We had a few hours to kill before our flight so Marion Seeney Secretary of the British Boxer Club invited us back to her home for tea, where we met her husband Gordon and her family. After a very enjoyable couple of hours, we were driven to the aiport, in plenty of time for our flight-only to see it had been cancelled; we eventually got the last flight and arrived home at 12.35am. An hour was spent playing with the dogs then off to bed, tired, but pleased with our day spent in the company of Boxers and their folk-there are none better!
